Usually they start on August 1st but last night we heard them for the first time. Just a few deep in the woods but the “click-click” sound of crickets was unmistakable. It was as if all of yesterday’s visitors woke them up. Each night you will hear a few crickets more until soon it will be a symphony of sound, drowning out even the owls and woodpeckers at night. It means that the second half of camp, the “best” part is beginning.
Nature sends us a few signs that summer doesn’t last forever. Soon it will be a cool breeze that rustles the leaves or the sound of geese heading south. We’re savoring the final weeks we have together at CTT!
