It was an overcast but perfectly comfortable day at camp filled with french toast sticks for breakfast, chicken patties (YES!) for lunch, and matzoh ball soup, roast beef, brussel sprouts, baked potatoes and challah for dinner! Oh, and don’t forget canteen! In addition to our ordinary scrumptious fare, meals have, of late, been filled by chants: WE WANT, WE WANT PIONEER DAYS! PIONEER DAYS!
Pioneer Days splits the camp into four teams (red, yellow, green, and blue), and each year Pioneer Days has a theme! We break out the three days unexpectedly, and then each team competes against the others by participating in events as ordinary as swim meets and as extraordinary as watermelon seed spitting! Other Pioneer Day favorites include rope burn, meal (where each team cooks for the judges over an open campfire), campsite, barber shop quartet, dance team, sporting events, banner, song, cheer, and more! Those who’ve grown up at Timber Tops usually hold “their” Pioneer Day event as a special place in their hearts. We can’t wait for it to break! We are SO EXCITED!
Tonight is the CA Campfire where our CAs will lead us in songs from CA years past. As many of you know, each CA bunk (10th grade) chooses a CA name and song to represent their “class” at CTT. Tonight we honor all those who have gone before us.
It has been and still is another one of those great Greeley days. We can’t say we’re suprised!
